One of the most important things that you can do in order to ensure the success of any business fundraising events is to make sure that you have a concrete fundraising plan in place before you even begin putting the event together.
Whether you develop a nonprofit fundraising plan for something like cancer advocacy or alternatively whether you are looking for a comprehensive fundraising plan involving donations for a charity, you are not going to get anywhere without a good fundraising plan. A fundraising plan communicates your fundraiser ideas to your fundraisers and informs them on exactly what to do in the field as well as putting a broader scope over all the fundraising ideas & activities that are to occur.
For example, let’s say that you’ve hired some fundraising event planners to do a charity luncheon for you; a very typical thing that is done as part of larger fundraising event planning operations by many different fundraisers in the world today. Would you expect the planners to go and get funding in a completely haphazard way from the guests that attended the luncheon?
Or rather, would you expect them to present you with a fundraising plan beforehand and then execute that fundraising plan through the use of different funding strategies and comprehensive tools such as excel fundraising tracking sheets. This is how professional non-profit fundraising plans work, so if you are going to do the work yourself then it only makes sense that you would start with a solid fundraising plan.
It should be noted that whether you are interested in non-profit fundraising plan development or indeed the development of any other kind of fundraising plan, the plan itself will be useless unless it is comprehensive. Anyone can sit down and brainstorm fundraising ideas for individuals all day, but at the end of the day what the fundraising plan does is it takes the idea and expands it until you know exactly how you are going to pull the fund-raising off.
If by the time you have finished developing your fundraising plan you are not entirely sure exactly how the fundraising attempt is going to go, then your plan is not finished. The whole purpose of a fundraising plan is to act as a blueprint for the whole operation. You will come back and refer to the plan later on when you are stuck for ideas and indeed you might even choose to refer to it in progress meetings just so that everyone has an idea of the overall progress that has been made towards the completion of the plan.
